Charlotte King MEZZO-SOPRANO
Charlotte was born in London and was awarded a BMus and MMus with distinction from Goldsmiths College. At Goldsmiths, Charlotte sang the roles of Third Lady Die Zauberflöte, Mrs. Sedley Peter Grimes, Cherubino Le Nozze di Figaro and the title role in Carmen. She performed as a soloist with the Goldsmiths Sinfonia in Vaughan-Williams’ Serenade to Music, Elgar’s Sea Pictures and in the UK première of Korngold’s A Midsummer Night’sDream.
In 2013, Charlotte completed the Guildhall Artist Masters (MMus) at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. At GSMD she sang the roles of Carmen, Suzuki Madama Butterfly, Rosina Il barbiere di Siviglia, Poppet Paul Bunyan, Zenobia Radamisto and Isabella L’italiana in Algeri and was a member of the chorus for the Massenet and Martinu triple bill in 2012.
Charlotte has performed Siegrune Die Walküre at the St. Endellion Festival, Sesto and Sorceress La Clemenza di Tito and Dido and Aeneas for Riverside Opera at the Cadogan Hall, Third Lady Die Zauberflöte and Aunt Jane Hugh the Drover with Hampstead Garden Opera and as a guest artist for P&O Music Festivals at Sea.
In 2012 and 2013, Charlotte sang as a member of the chorus for Grange Park Opera and covered the roles of Mrs. Chin and Old Crone A Night at the Chinese Opera for British Youth Opera. Last year, Charlotte joined Garsington Opera and covered roles in The Cunning Little Vixen and as a member of the chorus in Fidelio as well as covering the role of Pompea The Little Green Swallow for British Youth Opera.
