Hester Crombie PIANIST
Hester first learnt the piano by ear at the age of four and went on to attend the Birmingham Conservatoire Junior School, studying piano and violin. Hester graduated with a Masters degree in Chemistry from University College, Oxford and in 2009 graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Accompaniment, where she studied with Michael Dussek and Tessa Nicholson and was the recipient of an Oldhurst Trust Scholarship. Hester has also been privileged to attend the North Sea Vocal Academy with Audrey Hyland and Noelle Barker.
Hester lives and works in London where she is in demand as a coach, accompanist and repetiteur, and teaches piano at Blackheath High Junior School and Bradfield College in Berkshire. Recent performances include a recital at the Anglo-Italian Friendship Dinner at the Reform Club, Pall Mall, the Richard Lewis Prizewinner’s Recital with Roberto Ortiz at Duke’s Hall, Royal Academy of Music and recitals in the Holywell Music Room as part of the Wadham College Recital Series, Windsor Parish Church Young Artists’ Platform and the Grange Park Recital Series. She regularly accompanies music courses at Jackdaws Music Education Trust and was repetiteur for the 2010 Jackdaws Young Artists production of The Magic Flute.
Hester was selected to participate in the Young Songmakers Almanac master classes 2008/09 with Graham Johnson and has also performed in master classes with pianists Julius Drake, Rudolf Jansen, Malcolm Martineau and Jan Philip Schulze, and also with Barbara Bonney, Ann Murray DBE and Tasmin Little, among others.
