Natalie Katsou Artistic Director
Natalie was born in Athens, Greece, where she studied law (Law Degree) and theatre studies (BA with Distinction) at the University of Athens and acting (BA, Delos-Hatoupi Acting School). She also studied piano in Athenaeum-Maria Callas Conservatoire (tutor Stella Perrakis). In 2010, she moved to London where she completed her MFA in theatre directing in East 15 Acting School (University of Essex) under the honorary Minotis Scholarship granted to one theatre practitioner per year for excellence and outstanding work by the Cultural Foundation of National Bank of Greece.
Her first directing experience was in 2006, when her theatre play The Wedding Dress was selected for the Empty Space at the National Theatre of Greece (Art.Dir. Stathis Livathinos). She was the co-founder of En Spoudi Theatre Company, working as a Playwright and a Director until 2009.
Since 2010, she has lived and worked in London as a Theatre Director and a Playwright. Natalie has collaborated intensively with composers and choreographers and given workshops in Contact Improvisation and Devising, as well as Classical Theatre. She has also worked as an Assistant Director for English Touring Opera, British Youth Opera, Blackheath Halls and Arcola Theatre, next to highly acclaimed professionals like Mehmet Ergen, Chris Rolls, Nick Jenkins, James Conway and Martin Lloyd-Evans.
Recent directing includes The Medium by Menotti (Grimeborn Festival 2014), Trial by Jury by G&S (University of Greenwich Choir), Bazaar by David Planell and Wolf Kisses by Paloma Pedrero (Arcola Theatre, Feb-Mar 2014 & Old Red Lion July 2014), When the Bulbul stopped singing by David Greig (Istanbul April 2013, Arcola Theatre Oct 2013), In between lives - Persephone (Arcola Theatre, July 2013), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Carlisle, May 2013), Minotaur (Edinburgh Fringe 2012), Antigone and Bacchae (Theatre Technis 2011-12).
